1.1 lbs later

2nd Weigh In
1.1 lbs is not much to brag about...but "FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FOREVER" (I know you sang that part)...it wasn't a weight gain. I will take my small victories. I didn't get to the gym as much as I wanted to, but I did eat a lot better. Probably due to the fact that car had so many issues and I had to dig into out grocery money to get it fixed. I started a new diet called "I am broker til Friday" diet. In the process and I have created some new concoctions that are quite delicious, and a few that are...lets just say edible.

But I have started off the week right and got to the gym and busted my butt in there today. I've been youtube'ing (is that a word?) new workouts to push myself. Today I followed a workout from a channel I subscribe to called six pack shortcuts. Here's his workout.

Total Upper-Body Workout

  • Dumbbell Rows 10 Reps/Arm
  • Clapping Push-ups 10 Reps
  • Dumbbell Shoulder Press 10 Reps
  • Dumbbell Triceps Extensions 10 reps
  • Dumbbell Biceps Curls 10 Reps/Arm
  • Dumbbell Shoulder Shrugs 10 Reps
Complete 4 Rounds with a 2 Minute rest between rounds.

I didn't go as heavy as this dude, but it started off pretty easy with my 30 lbs weight so I bumped my 2nd and 3rd rounds to 40 lbs and felt like I was lifting 100 lbs. So on 4th Round I did only 35 lbs. I couldn't do clapping push-ups so I just did 15 regular push-ups. It took me a little over 20 Minutes to complete the workout...but I got a good sweat in. I then finished my workout with a 10 minute ride on the stationary bike. I feel like I have set a good precedent for the week and my results will be more promising next week. So wish me luck!

The Weigh In

Drum roll please *imagining drum rolls*...
January 27, 2014
What the...I don't feel like I weight 306.8 lbs, but I will take it with a grain of salt and except it. I originally had a video I was going to post along with this today, that sounded like a good idea at the time, but after editing and watching it...I rather I not post it...at least not today. I finally got to the gym today around 1 pm after debating if I should or not. I was going to jog to the gym too, but that didn't happen. But I thought I post my workout so that I have some kind of accountability to the small crowd who is reading this...or just me and my wife who are reading this. But I hope someone out there reading this will hold me accountable to my goals I have set.

Chest Day (Rep x Set x lbs)
  • 5 Min Jump Rope
  • 5 Min Elliptical
  • Bench Press: 10 x 10 x 135
  • Incline Dumbbell: Press 4 x 12 x 100
  • Chest Fly: 10 x 5 x 100
  • Push-ups:10 x 5
  • Crunches: 10 x 3.5 (Yes I said 3.5...I got some major stomach cramps after that 2nd set)
  • Stationary Bike: 5 Min

It wasn't much of a workout today, but I at least got there and did something. Tomorrow will be Arms, Shoulders and more Cardio!

Reminiscing of May 2006

My wife Lindsay and I were married in May of 2006. Truly the best day of our lives. But as we look back at wedding photos and the videos, this event has now become a depressing reminder of how far we have let ourselves go physically after the I dos'. I know many people will say or can relate and might say "it happens". But whither it is supposed to or not, I rather it not.

WEDDING DAY MAY 2006
Every morning I gaze into the mirror and thank the Lord that I am married. I don't think I would stand a chance out on the dating scene as a 31 yr old single adult looking the way I do. But as a 31 yr old husband and father of one...not too shabby! They say that the 30's is when most men should hit their physical peak because that is when our bodies are the most mature to grow and strengthen. I hope that is true in our attempt to return back to our physical state from BEFORE THE I DOS'.
